Breast cancer is the leading cancer in women in the United States and the second-most common cause for cancer death. One in eight United States Women have a chance of developing invasive breast cancer and one in thirty-three have a chance of breast cancer causing their death. 25 years ago Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. They have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill their promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. On September 27 2008, the Avenue hotel Chicago will join the Susan G. Komen race for the cure and walk for the cause. In preparation we have developed a “stay for the cure package”. For each overnight package purchased, 10% of the revenue with be donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation. You too can help find a cure. |
